Description
We are seeking a Senior Associate, Instructional Designer to join our Readiness and Associate Experience team at Capital One. As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing a diverse set of learning materials to support our Retail Banking Teams, including Bank Operations, Bank Voice, and Customer Protection.
You will partner closely with Learning Consultants, Principal Designers, and business partners to translate business intent into engaging learning materials, with a focus on digital-first learning methods. Your responsibilities will include analyzing learning needs, designing and developing blended learning solutions, and helping measure and report on learning effectiveness.
As a Senior Associate learning designer, you will partner with Principal Designers, SMEs, Project Managers, Facilitators, and Learning Consultants to design and develop engaging learning experiences. In this highly collaborative role, you will support the end-to-end design process and help drive key performance indicators.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and evidence-based learning practices
- Experience with course authoring tools and designing learning experiences
- Ability to work creatively with business needs and constraints
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize time effectively
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop content for specific programs and stand-alone offerings
- Support needs analysis and identify context for successful transfer of skills
- Recommend effective formats and modalities for learning experiences
- Work directly with SMEs to design and develop engaging learning materials
- Demonstrate aptitude for and knowledge of new learning technologies
- Partner with project team members to ensure clarity of goals and ongoing reviews
- Collaborate with other Instructional Designers and Learning Consultants
- Take personal responsibility for tasks and follow-through to completion
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
- At least 2 years of experience designing curriculum or programs using blended learning design and modern learning theories
- At least 2 years of experience designing and developing learning solutions for digital, virtual, and classroom settings
- At least one year of experience with Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience with Articulate 360
- 1+ year of experience working with an agile team of designers and developers
- 3+ years of experience in training design, development, and delivery
- 3+ years of experience leveraging design thinking and human-centered design methodologies
- Demonstrated experience with incorporating generative AI into the learning design lifecycle
Salary:
- McLean, VA: $88,800 - $101,300 per year
- Richmond, VA: $80,800 - $92,200 per year
- Wilmington, DE: $80,800 - $92,200 per year
