Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Portability

As a Staff+ Software Engineer on the Platform Portability team, you will design and build systems that enable Anthropic to run on multiple cloud providers and accelerator platforms. Your work will directly determine how quickly and reliably we can put safe, frontier AI in front of users.

Responsibilities

Your role will involve two main workstreams:

1. Portable Infrastructure: You will build provider-agnostic abstractions for storage, messaging, and connectivity that allow Anthropic's systems to run on any cloud. You will also design and build tooling that enables internal teams to provision, configure, and operate services across clouds through one consistent interface.

1. Claude on Partner Clouds: You will own the delivery of Claude onto third-party cloud platforms, including the build, release, and validation pipelines. You will work directly with engineering teams at cloud partners and internal infrastructure stakeholders to land the features needed, debug platform issues, and influence their roadmaps.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of practical experience building and operating production distributed systems
• Experience owning large-scale infrastructure systems and leading ambiguous, cross-team technical projects from design through production
• Experience running the same production workload across multiple cloud providers, including migration or abstraction work
• Understanding of cloud IAM models and networking primitives (VPC peering, private connectivity, service mesh) across providers
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Go, or Rust)
• Experience with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
• Understanding of ML infrastructure and supporting interconnects
• Experience shipping software through hyperscaler marketplaces or managed-model platforms
• Background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments

Logistics

• Annual Salary: $405,000-$485,000 USD
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
