Description
WKYC-TV Cleveland, the TEGNA NBC station in Cleveland, is seeking a highly skilled temporary Photojournalist to create engaging content for television, social media, and mobile.
The ideal candidate is familiar with the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques, and can tell great stories independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Capture compelling video and audio elements for news, sports, features, and documentary-style stories under daily deadlines.
- Operate an ENG truck or IP video-based live unit (TVU) when assigned.
- Work solo or in a team on daily news assignments.
- Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas.
- Enhance stories using creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a newsroom environment.
- Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.
- Flexibility with scheduling, reliability, and dependability.
- Proven ability to generate creative, engaging content-driven live shots.
- Demonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.
- Understanding of professional journalism tenets.
- Knowledge of EDIUS or any non-linear editing system preferred.
- Organizational skills and ability to work under constant deadlines.
- Ability to handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
- Current driver's license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle.
Pay Range: $21-$23 USD
