Engineering Manager

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to shape the future of engineering and maintenance at Biffa, the UK's leader in the circular economy. This high-impact leadership role involves taking full ownership of site engineering performance, developing people, embedding standards, and directly influencing safety, reliability, and cost.

The Engineering Manager will be accountable for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of all site assets at Aldridge PRF. They will lead and develop the onsite engineering team, embed best-practice maintenance standards, and ensure engineering is a trusted partner to Operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, coaching, and developing a multi-disciplinary engineering team
• Creating, embedding, and maintaining a strong safety culture
• Driving asset reliability through effective preventative maintenance
• Reducing breakdowns and reactive maintenance
• Managing contractors effectively
• Carrying out Root Cause Analysis and implementing sustainable solutions
• Planning, executing, and continuously improving shutdown activities
• Taking ownership of engineering OPEX and contributing to CAPEX planning

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven engineering or maintenance management experience
• Strong H&S leadership in an industrial environment
• Coaching and developmental leadership style
• Commercial awareness with understanding of OPEX and CAPEX
• Confident communication skills
• Structured, calm, and decisive approach
