Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society.
The Anthropic STEM Fellows Program brings researchers and experts from across science and engineering into Anthropic for four months to tackle grand challenges in their fields with Claude.
As a Fellow, you will work in a small pod with others in your domain, meeting weekly with Anthropic researchers to share methods and build on each other's work.
You will focus on a grand challenge at the frontier of your field, scoped with our research team, and make real progress in four months.
You will have access to frontier Claude models and internal evaluation tooling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting grand challenges for your field
- Building comprehensive datasets, simulations, and evaluations
- Applying Claude to open problems in your domain
Minimum qualifications:
- Excited about AI's potential in your field
- Hands-on experience with Claude and Claude Code
- PhD in a STEM field with several years of experience
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced atmosphere
- Existing authorization to work in the United States
Logistics:
- Program runs from January 12th to May 8th, 2027
- Full-time for the duration
- One-week in-person orientation in San Francisco
- Default location is San Francisco, with remote engagement possible in some circumstances
Compensation: $100,000–$167,000 USD for the four-month fellowship
