The primary purpose of this role is to inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with your qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
- Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
- Good customer service skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to kneel, squat or bend.
- Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions.
- Have the ability to: climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reaching/working overhead.
- Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day.
- Must have continual use of manual dexterity.
The salary range for this role is $70-100k per year.
