## Description

TEGNA Inc. is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join its development team at WBIR-TV Knoxville. The successful candidate will collaborate with developers and product teams to design, implement, and maintain automated test solutions, ensuring high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.

- Create and execute automated test suites for web, mobile, and OTT applications.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable, repeatable test execution.

- Analyze test failures, identify root causes, and partner with developers to resolve defects efficiently.

- Review requirements and technical designs to provide early feedback on testability and automation feasibility.

- Maintain and enhance existing test automation, ensuring scalability and maintainability.

- Establish automation best practices, standards, and documentation.

- Collaborate with manual QA, developers, DevOps, and product teams to improve overall test coverage and release confidence.

- Continuously evaluate and adopt new automation tools and technologies.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining test automation solutions.

- Strong experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium).

- Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used for automation (e.g., Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python).

- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).

- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and test strategies.

- Strong debugging skills with the ability to identify root causes of complex test and environment issues.

- Experience with automated API testing.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Passion for quality engineering and continuous improvement.
