## Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), located in Pawcatuck, CT, is seeking a Maintenance Trades Helper- Laborer Sheet Metal Trainee.

The successful candidate will work within the Sheet Metal Shop, assisting in the operation of CNC machinery, deburring parts, and learning the precision sheet metal trade.

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Assist senior employees in operating CNC Punch Press, Waterjet Cutting Center, and Press Brakes to fabricate sheet metal products.

- Keep other employees in the department supplied with materials and tools.

- Cut sheets and blanks for shop machinery using hydraulic shears and cutting tools.

- Break out parts off Punch Press and Omax Waterjet.

- Clean work areas, machines, and equipment.

- Deliver parts to other departments and areas of the facility.

**Education and Experience:**

- 0-2 years of related experience.

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Technical or Vocational Training preferred but not required.

**Skills and Abilities:**

- Understanding of shop math.

- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

- Ability to operate power and hand tools.

- Ability to work within a motivated small team.

- Able to lift 50 pounds or more on a daily basis.

- Willing to invest and show initiative and quality craftsmanship.
