As an Associate Director, Software Engineering, you will act as a senior technical lead in the team, responsible for hands-on core Java technologies development with Agile/DevOps practices. You will lead and mentor other more junior engineers in the team, design system architecture and application components for technical deliveries, and contribute to technical delivery plans and timelines with effective sprint planning skills.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Writing well-designed, testable, and efficient code, and involving yourself in the deployment of the software you build

- Communicating with upstream and downstream system teams for any planned technical deliveries

- Working with various stakeholders in business and IT to transform business requirements into sound solutions and ensure delivery of solutions consistent with strategic architecture

- Maintaining effective communication and good relationships with all project stakeholders, including business, Finance Change, Global programme managers, and other IT counterparts

- Managing business expectations and negotiating compromise where appropriate

- Working with architecture teams to ensure that solutions being designed are aligned to future state architecture as much as possible without compromising on delivery timelines

- Providing functional management and mentoring of direct reports staff, including personal development and career progression

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Java, Micro Service, etc.

- Experience playing the role of Technical Lead

- Effective communication with other technical colleagues from global teams (UK, HK, GZ, India, and Canada)

- Proficiency in tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube, Nexus, etc.

- Experience in software development on Unix/Linux platforms

- Experience in RDBMS and NoSQL databases

- Experience in data streaming technologies, such as Apache Beam, would be a plus

- Proficiency in verbal and written English communication skills

- Self-motivation, ability to work independently and under pressure, and a disciplined approach to requirements analysis

- A software engineering or computer science background (either at degree level or working for a software company)

- Experience dealing with senior business stakeholders with strong written and verbal communication skills
