## Description

The Operations Maintenance Damage Prevention (O&M D) role supports BP US Terminals & Pipelines by providing Right-of-Way (ROW), Damage Prevention, and permitting-related operational support.

Based in the Merrillville, Indiana office, this position plays a critical role in protecting pipeline assets from third-party damage through ROW management, field oversight, and stakeholder coordination.

The successful candidate will oversee a geographic territory spanning approximately a 250-mile radius from Merrillville and must reside within 50 miles of the office.

This is a highly field-based role requiring extensive travel, estimated at 75% or more, with occasional travel outside the assigned territory to support business needs.

**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:**

- Complete all training and qualification requirements within the stated timeframe of the BP Pipelines OMD Training Program.

- Perform pipeline identification, location, and marking lines using electronic locators and probes.

- Provide Asset Operational (AO) Permitting on ROW work as required.

- Monitor work locations and inspect pipelines for leaks and irregularities.

- Provide inspections of abnormal right-of-way conditions.

- Conduct occasional hand digging, manual probing, and walking on rough terrain.

- Monitor and observe excavation activities over/near the pipeline.

- Act as a liaison on behalf of BP with utilities, municipalities, property owners, excavators, and other third parties.

- Recognise third-party scope of work and required pipeline protection measures.

- Attend Public Awareness & Education meetings.

- Monitor and locate notifications for conflicts.

- Deliver mapping data collection and processing using drones and sub-meter GPS.

- Run inspections for right-of-way clearing and update Digital Mapping Applications.

- Collect and update attributes and feature types using digital Mapping GIS programs.

- Document and support removal of pipeline encroachments.

- Support internal line inspection (ILI) tool runs, as assigned.

- Maintain equipment in good working condition.

- Conduct right-of-way maintenance activities, as assigned.

- Prepare 'as-built' drawings of foreign line crossings and other outside construction activities.

- Complete Inspection & Repair reports and other required reports.

- Meet all DOT requirements, including Operator Qualifications.

- Complete all emergency Response training, including Hazwoper, RCRA, respiratory, and other as required.

- Obtain a license to fly a drone, if required.

**Requirements:**

- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.

- ROW and/or Line Locating Experience.

**Additional Competencies & Experience:**

- Ability to read maps, alignment sheets, and construction drawings.

- Underground construction experience and knowledge.

- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment as assigned.

- Conduct and document DOT equipment inspections.

- Utilise MAXIMO, Utilisphere, CBT, MS Office, and other applications.

- Meet all DOT requirements, including Operator Qualifications.

- Participate in all emergency response training, including Hazwoper, RCRA, respiratory, and other as required.

- Legal authorisation to work in the US on a full-time basis.

- Computer skills, including MS Office Suites.

- Valid Driver's License.

- Commitment to learning new skills and completing the O&M D training curriculum.

- Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) Card, if required.

**Job Accountability: Overtime** As a condition of employment, all employees must be available to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and responding to call-outs.

**Pay Information:** New hires for the O&M D position start at an hourly rate of $35.85. The hourly rate incrementally increases to $48.29 as the employee progresses through and optimally completes the O&M Skills Training curriculum (approximately 24 months from employment start date).

**Travel Requirement:** Up to 75% travel is expected with this role.

**Relocation Assistance:** This role is not eligible for relocation.
