## Description

KWES-TV Midland-Odessa is seeking a Chief Meteorologist to lead its weather team and serve the local community.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader with expertise in meteorology, able to forecast, prepare graphics, report in the field, and provide severe weather coverage across various platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and implementing strategic direction for weather coverage with the News Director

- Creating engaging weathercasts for on-air and digital audiences

- Supervising the weather team and interacting with the audience on multiple platforms

- Assisting with recruiting and hiring for the weather team

- Coaching and mentoring the weather team

- Collaborating with the News Director and News Managers to develop severe weather coverage plans

- Pitching and creating original weather content for all platforms

- Leading technological advances related to graphics

- Participating in community outreach efforts

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in meteorology

- AMS Certification

- Minimum 3-5 years of on-air experience

- Demonstrated leadership experience

- Strong communication skills

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

- Knowledge of multiplatform newsgathering tools and resources

- Fluency with social media platforms and social management tools
