## Description

The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury and promote health by monitoring the health of the community and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy.

The Utah County Health Department is seeking an Environmental Health Scientist II to conduct sanitation inspections of eating establishments, commercial facilities, and public buildings. The successful candidate will inspect onsite sewage disposal and water systems to determine compliance with ordinances and laws designed to protect the health and safety of the public. They will also respond to and investigate complaints related to public health, conduct public education training related to environmental health, and may be assigned to work in multiple functional areas or exclusively to one.

**Responsibilities:**

- Conduct sanitation inspections of eating establishments, commercial facilities, and public buildings

- Inspect onsite sewage disposal and water systems to determine compliance with ordinances and laws

- Respond to and investigate complaints related to public health

- Conduct public education training related to environmental health

**Requirements:**

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university that includes thirty (30) credit hours in the natural sciences or a closely related field

- Three (3) years of experience as a licensed Environmental Health Scientist

- Applicants must be licensed through the State of Utah as an Environmental Health Scientist

- Applicants must obtain and maintain certifications in an environmental health field and/or certifications applicable to position
