## Description

We are seeking a Voluntary Independent Member to join our Audit Committee.

The Audit Committee plays a crucial role in reviewing the effectiveness of the Council's governance, financial and risk management arrangements.

As an Independent Member, you will be vital in optimising the Committee's effectiveness and enabling the Council to provide assurance on its important work.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Attend approximately four in-person evening meetings per year

- Allow some preparation time

- Participate in training sessions

**Requirements:**

- Knowledge of local government finance

- Experience of financial control and management, possibly with an audit background

- Ability to establish good working relationships with councillors and officers

- Objectivity and political independence

- Ability to analyse information
