As a Senior Director, Data Scientist at Capital One, you will lead the next wave of disruption using the latest computing and machine learning technologies across billions of customer records. Your mission is to unlock big opportunities that help everyday people save money, time, and effort in their financial lives.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver customer-centric products.

- Utilize a broad stack of technologies, including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more, to uncover insights in large volumes of data.

- Develop machine learning models throughout all phases, from design to implementation.

- Communicate complex technical concepts into tangible business goals.

The Ideal Candidate:

- Is customer-focused, innovative, creative, and a leader.

- Has expertise in open-source languages, data science solutions, and cloud computing platforms.

- Is statistically-minded with experience in building, validating, and backtesting models.

- Is a data guru with skills to retrieve, combine, and analyze data from various sources.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience in data analytics, or Master's degree plus 8 years, or PhD plus 5 years.

- At least 4 years of experience in open-source programming languages and machine learning.

- At least 4 years of experience with relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

- PhD in STEM field plus 5 years of experience in data analytics.

- Experience working with AWS, managing people, and using Python, Scala, or R for large-scale data analysis.

- Riverwoods, IL: $286,200 - $326,700 per year
