Do you have expertise in, and passion for Medical Affairs in Oncology?

We are seeking an Oncology Medical Science Liaison/Sr Medical Science Liaison to join our team in the Carolinas region. As a key member of our Medical Affairs team, you will play a critical role in advancing our pipeline by applying your expertise and accelerating our pathway to finding a cure.

The successful candidate will serve as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca in the disease area of interest, building a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory. They will be responsible for providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.

Key responsibilities include:

Acting as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs. Developing strong working relationships in different external business settings (e.g. academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices). Leading scientific exchanges with oncologists, urologists and key members of the MDT. Gathering insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barrier to optimal treatment and patient care or opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer. Communicating internally insights, findings, and proposing actions to improve patient care and outcomes. Discussing with KOLs data and educational gaps to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our R&D strategy to address patient needs. Summarizing appropriate clinical data into accurate and balanced information and clearly and concisely conveying the most relevant information. Staying current with scientific knowledge (e.g. marketed and emerging products, competitors' activities, key healthcare trends, anatomy & physiology; pathophysiology in relevant disease states, and current therapeutic interventions related to disease states). Attending relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Collaborating with Clin ops on Ph3 trials from feasibility to execution of trials.

Essential requirements include: An advanced scientific degree (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline. 2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience. Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences. Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations and in small group dialogues. Ability to work independently and in groups. Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment. Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols. Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics and regulatory environment. Excellent project management ability. Ability to travel (40-60% by car and plane domestic).

Desirable qualifications include a doctorate in a health science or clinical discipline.
