## Description

As a qualified and experienced clinical physiologist in the field of neurophysiology, working at a centre of excellence, you will provide a first-class service with patient-centred care and appropriate planning and use of complex neurophysiological studies.

You will be working as an integral part of a team of 7 clinical physiologists, with supervisory responsibilities for more junior members of staff. In addition, you should be able to work independently with respect to both performing tests and troubleshooting equipment/recording problems.

The team sees adult patients (typically aged 17+ years, occasionally 15/16 years) with a range of neurological and/or neuropsychiatric conditions. Much of the work is for comprehensive diagnostic assessment of patients with paroxysmal events, including loss of awareness/consciousness, convulsive movements, or altered behaviour.

The department encourages CPD and active participation in research and audit projects.

**Main duties of the job**

- Maintain a high standard of professionalism when at work, with patients, the neurophysiology team, and the wider medical team at Chalfont.

- Be responsible for your own work and, where appropriate, that of less experienced colleagues, ensuring its integrity and completeness.

- Plan and perform complex neurophysiological studies, including video-EEG telemetry, routine, prolonged, and sleep-deprived EEGs with video, ambulatory EEGs, and home video-telemetry studies.

- Participate in ward rounds, MDTs, and teaching sessions with both the immediate neurophysiology team and the wider medical team.

- Work within the trust's values of safety, kindness, teamwork, and improving to deliver quality patient care, collaborative working, and continual improvement of the neurophysiology service.

**Benefits**

- The trust offers flexible working for staff.

- The trust is committed to sustainability and has pledged to become a carbon net-zero health service.

**Requirements**

- BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent.

- IRCP Part I or equivalent.

- Evidence of continued professional development.

- Ability to work autonomously in respect of standard clinical work and under light supervision for more complex procedures.

- Provide evidence of practical skills to record routine neurophysiology investigations.

- Demonstrate ability to work with patients with challenging or confrontational behaviour.

- Able to communicate effectively and sensitively with all patients.

**Desirable**

- Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent experience.

- Member of a professional organisation.

- Experience in supervising students or trainees.
