## Description

As Safeguarding and Risk Officer with our Housing and Homelessness Service, you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster's success.

You will be a key member of the front-line Needs, Assessment and Resettlement team which sits within the Temporary Accommodation delivery area.

Providing specialist advice and coordination on safeguarding and risk matters for households in temporary accommodation and applicants awaiting placements or move-on, you will focus on ensuring that all relevant data and information is accurately recorded, reviewed and shared.

In detail, your day-to-day work will involve reviewing safeguarding and risk issues, maintaining accurate, proportionate and robust records, and providing case-specific advice and professional guidance to other officers in the service.

Acting as a key point of contact for relevant enquiries and liaising with our statutory partners to support information sharing, you will also contribute to multi-agency safeguarding meetings, and support joint working and appropriate risk management for the vulnerable households we work with.

Sharing relevant information with providers of accommodation, and supporting safe placements and appropriate management arrangements, you will produce regular reports and updates on your work and identify – and if necessary, escalate – any risks, issues, patterns or themes with the temporary accommodation we offer.

Maintaining clear and accurate case notes and decision records, and making an important contribution to confident and consistent practice across the service, you will also help to review and develop our procedures and guidance.

To be a success in this vital role you will have proven experience of managing safeguarding and risk concerns within a housing, homelessness, temporary accommodation or similar service, and the ability to use sound professional judgement and appropriate awareness while working with vulnerable households, adults and children with complex needs.

Capable of collaborating with multi-agency partners as you apply safeguarding legislation, policy and procedures in practice, you will have good working knowledge of data protection, safeguarding and information-sharing requirements, and homelessness legislation and associated guidance.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will allow you to communicate clearly and sensitively with residents, colleagues and partner organisations, build working relationships that facilitate joint problem-solving, and make a positive contribution to multi-agency safeguarding meetings, panels and case conferences.

You should have experience of using digital case management systems and standard office software to plan, record, monitor and report casework, and be ready to plan your work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing competing demands while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Committed to exercising sound professional judgement while balancing empathy with clear boundaries and defensible decision-making, you will possess the maturity and wisdom to reflect on your practice, seek advice when needed and contribute to continuous improvement in safeguarding and risk management.

There are times when this will be a challenging role, so you should also be capable of maintaining your resilience and professionalism when working in distressing, complex or high-risk situations.
