## Description

Join Microsoft's Windows Cloud Experiences Team as a Principal Software Engineer to build the future of end-user computing. You'll lead at both technology and business levels, working on large-scale distributed software services and solutions that integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered experiences.

The team is transforming personal computing by pushing it to the cloud, enhancing remote experiences, security, and manageability. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll help scale the product, innovate, and drive modern software engineering practices.

**Responsibilities**

- Design and develop large-scale distributed software services and solutions.

- Drive modern software engineering practices through design and code reviews.

- Ensure system design through well-defined interfaces, code reviews, and data/telemetry analysis.

- Develop best-in-class engineering for services, focusing on modularization, security, reliability, and monitoring.

- Improve test coverage, organize integration tests, and resolve problem areas.

- Design distributed systems optimizing performance, availability, cost, and resource utilization for AI workloads.

**Qualifications**

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- 7+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C#, Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.

- 6+ years of experience leading architecture, design, implementation, and shipping of cloud services or software products.

- Passion for emerging technologies, especially AI infrastructure.

- Experience working across teams to deliver shared solutions to complex problems.

**Salary Information** The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 – $274,800 per year. For specific locations like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the range is USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year.
