## Description

Leidos Defence Systems Sector is seeking a Cable Manufacturing Engineer to join its team in the Electronics Manufacturing Facility in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will create unique solutions for complex problems.

The Leidos Defence Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Solutions for Defence include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

- Develop and ensure manufacturing processes/work instructions are simple, clear, robust, error-proofed, and repeatable.

- Prepare process flows and assembly work instructions for assembly technicians using an MES system (i.e., Solumina).

- Support the implementation of change orders and deviations.

- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in support of developing procedures/work instructions that will lead to follow-on production.

- Work closely with the quality team to develop processes that validate customer quality requirements.

- Work closely with production control to meet desired delivery schedules of the design team.

- Assist with the installation and commissioning of automation equipment, supporting the development and optimization of facility layout configurations.

**Basic Qualifications:**

- BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.

- Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

- Experience working with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to develop a build strategy and identify potential problems.

- Knowledge of tools used for assembly (crimpers, strippers, insertion) and proper techniques.

- Basic computer skills associated with assembly tasks.

- Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Windchill product lifecycle management software is a plus.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- At least 4 years of manufacturing engineering experience on designing and building electronic hardware to government specifications (or similar).

- Experience with software that maintains bills of materials and other engineering design data.

- Experience with electronics used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile components.

- Experience with production of cable harnesses, electronics, and electromechanical assemblies.

- Ability to communicate with customers to provide updates on schedule and cost.

- Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Windchill product lifecycle management software.

- Experience in various quality roles.

- Experience in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

- Electronic component handling requirements and ESD procedures.

- Current or prior certification to IPC/WHMA-A-620.

- Knowledge of assembly and inspection requirements for Micro-D solder cups in cable assemblies.

- Experience with leading, executing, and implementing automated equipment within a cable manufacturing environment.

The salary range for this position is $73,450.00 - $132,775.00.
