## Description

We're seeking a news journalist to join our editorial team at Storyful, a news organisation that works at the intersection of social media, news, and technology. You'll find compelling stories via social media, produce original reporting using cutting-edge verification and open-source intelligence techniques, and serve a diverse set of media clients.

Responsibilities include:

- Monitoring Storyful's news feeds for emerging stories and undertaking advanced searches using proprietary tools to discover original, eyewitness content

- Verifying images, posts, and videos from the social web

- Writing clean, concise, and accurate copy for publication on the Storyful Newswire and social platforms

- Contacting uploaders and sources involved in stories

- Working closely with newsroom clients and content creators

- Working to deadlines and targets

- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends

- Communicating clearly within the team and to clients and media partners

Requirements:

- Proven experience in open-source investigation/social media discovery and verification is an advantage

- A degree or qualification in journalism/communications, or one year of experience working as a journalist

- Self-starting journalist who is plugged into current events around the world

- Fluid, natural communicator who can write clean, simple copy for publication

- Understanding of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, 4chan, etc.

- Excellent computer skills, including basic knowledge of spreadsheets and publishing within content management systems

- Foreign language skills are strongly favoured

- Video-editing skills are an advantage

We offer a competitive salary range of $33,000 - $40,000, a comprehensive benefits package, and a flexible compensation structure.
