## Description

We are seeking a Principal Associate to join our Centralized Card Data Team at Capital One. As a key member of this team, you will leverage your data governance and strategic skills to provide early leadership on fast-moving data projects and serve as an embedded Business Steward.

Your responsibilities will include:

### Data Stewardship & Consultation

- Partner with the Card Product Controllers team and serve as the primary liaison and data contact.

- Provide strategic guidance on major enterprise initiatives to ensure Card-specific accounting requirements are addressed.

- Define data meaning and usage, focusing on 'Trust' and 'Compliance'.

### Data Governance & Management

- Establish and run standardized processes for data quality protocols, profiling, and defining Critical Data Elements and usage.

- Help define operational contracts, Data Provisioning Agreements (DPAs), and SLAs.

### Operations & Knowledge Management

- Promote a controlled change management environment to reduce data risk and eliminate manual overhead.

- Serve as the definitive voice for the team, educating consumers on new data standards and supporting operational integration.

The ideal candidate will have:

- A high level of comfort operating independently in an ambiguous environment.

- The ability to tackle big foundational tasks from scratch.

- Strong communication skills to translate complex technical constraints into clear business impacts.

- The ability to build trust and influence cross-functional partners.

**Basic Qualifications:**

- Bachelor's Degree or military experience.

- At least 3 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, finance, or a combination.

- At least 3 years of experience with Google Office or Microsoft Office products, or a combination.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Master’s Degree in Finance, Analytics, or a related quantitative field.

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.

- 5+ years of progressive experience working in data analytics, data governance, business intelligence, or financial data systems.

- 4+ years of experience working directly within a financial institution, supporting Product Controllers, Finance or general ledger data infrastructure.

- 2+ years of experience in Tableau, Python, or SQL, or a combination.

**Salary Information:**

- McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 per year.

- Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 per year.

- Wilmington, DE: $109,900 - $125,400 per year.
