As a Senior Product Software Engineer on the News Web Squad, you will be part of a team focused on building and maintaining the web sites for ABC News and the eight ABC Owned and Operated Television Stations. You will surface personalised video, tally election results, and keep local audiences connected to breaking news in their communities.

**Job Responsibilities:**

- Build and ship product-level features for ABC News and the ABC OTV station sites

- Build solutions for problems of sizeable scope and complexity

- Develop specifications and technical designs for new features, refactors, and architectural improvements

- Contribute to the evolution of their engineering practices by recommending improvements to development, coding, maintenance, and system standards

- Review code from peers for design, testability, and usability

- Identify opportunities to improve their systems, products, and services with each iteration

- Influence and drive software engineering best practices within the team

- Serve as a "go-to" technical resource for less experienced engineers

**Basic Qualifications:**

- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional software engineering experience

- Extensive experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and modern front-end web development technologies and best practices

- Proven ability to own products and features throughout the full software development lifecycle

- Experience designing, building, and delivering scalable features and applications that support high-traffic environments

- Strong commitment to software quality, including automated testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement of engineering standards

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership throughout the successful delivery of complex projects

- Proven experience building and scaling consumer-facing web applications that serve large and diverse user bases

- Experience integrating with content management systems (CMS) and content delivery pipelines

- Familiarity with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and data-driven decision-making practices

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 per year.
