## Description

We are seeking a Full-Stack Engineer 5 to join our team at Capital One. As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and scaling resilient, low-latency global payment architectures supporting high-volume, cross-border transaction processing and multi-currency financial workflows across international markets.

You will leverage AI-powered coding assistants and agentic workflows to accelerate software delivery, automate routine tasks, and write robust, secure code while maintaining full accountability for code quality and security.

As a leader in this role, you will lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.

You will also share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community.

Responsibilities:

- Design and scale resilient, low-latency global payment architectures

- Leverage AI-powered coding assistants and agentic workflows

- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers

- Share knowledge of tech trends and mentor other engineers

- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions

- Utilize programming languages like Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript

- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams

- Drive end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems

- Partner with architects and product leaders to define platform roadmaps and shared services strategy

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field

- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering

- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

- 9+ years of experience coding with more than two programming languages

- 5+ years of experience contributing to open source frameworks

- Experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks

- Experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs

- Experience with database and database management systems

- Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies

- McLean, VA: $229,900 - $262,400 per year

- Riverwoods, IL: $209,000 - $238,500 per year
