## Description

We are seeking Research Scientists to join our Artist-First AI Music Lab. Our team pioneers and advances state-of-the-art generative technologies for music that create breakthrough experiences for fans and artists.

The lab focuses on four key principles:

- Partnerships with record labels, distributors, and music publishers

- Choice in participation for artists and rightsholders

- Fair compensation and new revenue streams

- Artist-fan connection through AI tools

**Responsibilities** Conduct groundbreaking research in generative audio using diffusion or flow matching models, focusing on areas such as:

- Vocal Synthesis: Research in vocal and speech synthesis, ML-based audio processing, and signal processing

- Post-Training: Research in post-training techniques for music generation, preference alignment methods, and reinforcement learning

- Editing: Research in iterative music generation and audio editing

You will also:

- Run large-scale experiments using Spotify's infrastructure

- Create practical applications that harness generative technologies

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft innovative solutions

- Publish findings, deliver talks, and attend top conferences

**Requirements**

- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

- Experience in generative modeling, machine learning, music information retrieval, or related areas

- Deep expertise in vocal/speech synthesis, post-training alignment techniques, or audio-to-audio generation

- Publications at leading conferences such as ICASSP, ISMIR, INTERSPEECH, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV

- Strong coding skills in Python, PyTorch, and NumPy

- Creative problem-solving skills and passion for building outstanding products

**Location and Benefits**

- Flexible work location within the North Americas region

- Core working hours are CET 3pm-6pm / EST 9am-12pm

- Salary range: $133,194 - $190,278 plus equity
