## Description

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design complex cooling and HVAC systems, lead projects, and mentor a team of mechanical engineers. The successful candidate will produce high-quality technical deliverables, communicate with clients, and manage project activities.

**Your Impact:**

- Design complex air distribution and hydronic systems

- Develop drawing and specification documents for architects, contractors, and building owners

- Lead discussions with clients and communicate complex engineering concepts

- Direct complex mechanical engineering requirements and integrate into facility designs

- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors

- Act as the lead mechanical engineer on projects and direct the project team

- Mentor a team of engineers

- Perform project management activities, including proposal writing and budget establishment

- Coordinate technical development, scheduling, and engineering design issue resolution

- Survey and evaluate existing conditions

- Perform construction administration

**Who You Are:** The ideal candidate is a technically sound mechanical engineer with 7+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for high-performing, commercial, industrial, or mission-critical/data center buildings. They have strong communication skills, can lead and develop complex projects, and foster the growth of junior engineers.

**Required Qualifications:**

- Proven history of Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis

- 7+ years of experience in designing mechanical systems for high-performing buildings

- Experience mentoring and training others

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to interact well with others and develop high-quality technical deliverables

- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and codes

- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

- Flexibility with schedules and ability to prioritize responsibilities

- Occasional travel may be required

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)

- Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics of airflow

- Mission Critical/Data Center experience

- Experience with international projects and knowledge of international codes and standards
