## Description

## Job Overview

As a Software Engineer II, Platform, you will own well-scoped projects within Flexport's developer platform, working closely with a small group of teammates. Your goal will be to design and ship improvements that remove friction for hundreds of engineers relying on your tools.

## Responsibilities

- Build paved paths and self-serve tooling that make the right thing the easy thing.

- Develop and support CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite, GitHub Actions), build tooling (Gradle, Bazel, npm/pnpm/bun, Go and Cargo), and artifact repositories (Artifactory, ECR, GitHub).

- Improve the backend and frontend developer experience through projects you scope and deliver.

- Contribute to the GraphQL and gRPC ecosystem, including middleware, federation, and schema sharing.

- Help engineers use and understand container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS) and observability stack (OpenMetrics, Datadog).

- Gather feedback from internal users, turn it into clear problem statements, and work with your team to prioritize what's worth building.

## Requirements

- 2-5 years of software engineering experience, ideally including time spent on developer platforms, internal tooling, or infrastructure.

- Full-stack curiosity with hands-on experience in backend services, frontend build pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and CI configuration.

- Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions preferred), container orchestrators (Kubernetes preferred), build tooling, and artifact storage.

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand who you're building for and why.

- Care for internal users, treating engineers as customers, gathering feedback, and checking whether what you shipped actually helped.

- Ownership of your projects from idea to production rollout, keeping stakeholders informed, and raising risks early.

- Pride in fixing what's broken, tackling tech debt, and carrying out migrations.

- Good communication skills, able to write clear design docs, participate in developer interviews, and keep teammates updated.

- Helpful attitude, getting people unblocked and making their work easier.

- Growth mindset, seeking out feedback, learning quickly, and building toward broader scope and impact.

## Nice to Have

- Exposure to data-driven DevX development using metrics such as DORA.

- Experience with AWS.

- Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.

- Experience with Terraform.

## Benefits

- Opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing company with a global impact.

- Daily catered lunches, breakfast, snacks, and soft drinks.

- Commute expenses covered for employees living outside of Amsterdam.

- 25 working days of vacation.

- Health insurance with a collective plan.

- Defined pension contribution scheme.
