## Description

We are seeking a student to conduct an examination work on optimizing the tactical investment portfolio for grid assets at Vattenfall.

As a student, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to contribute to real solutions in the energy transition. You will work closely with experienced specialists and face challenges where your ideas and perspectives can make a difference.

The Asset Portfolio department at Vattenfall Eldistribution AB is responsible for managing and developing the tactical asset investment portfolio. The goal is to prioritize investments that best contribute to the company's goals, reduce risks in the assets, and ensure the functionality of the grid.

The task involves investigating how optimization-based methods can be applied to create an optimal and feasible investment portfolio. This includes developing and evaluating an optimization approach that considers factors such as risk reduction, investment cost, budget, resource needs, and feasibility.

The work may also involve scenario and sensitivity analyses to investigate how uncertainties and changed conditions affect the portfolio's composition.

The aim of the examination work is to contribute to the development of a transparent and data-driven decision support for tactical investment planning, where optimization can help identify how limited resources can be used in the best possible way, within defined boundary conditions.

This assignment is intended for 1-2 students.

Qualifications:

- Studying a master's program in industrial economics, information technology, computer science, energy technology, or similar

- Good programming skills (meritorious)

- Fluent in both Swedish and English, spoken and written

- Good analytical ability and experience working with qualitative and quantitative methods

- Good problem-solving skills, preferably with the help of data and models

- Curious and good ability to put yourself into complex processes and identify patterns, connections, and development opportunities

Scope: 30 hp.
