## Description

Do you love books and helping people? The New York Public Library has been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas, and education for over 100 years. As a Library Page, you will assist patrons with basic tasks, maintain library collections, and learn about the inner workings of a library system. This is a great opportunity to gain experience and decide if a career in librarianship is right for you.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide exceptional customer service to the public

- Shelve and arrange books, CDs, DVDs, and other library materials

- Answer in-person inquiries and help patrons locate needed materials

- Assist patrons with basic computer, internet, and audio/visual equipment usage

- Locate and prepare library materials requested by patrons

- Assist staff with checking materials for damage and removing them from the shelves

- Help set up public spaces for events and programs

Requirements:

- Current enrollment in a degree program at an accredited school

- Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and printer issues

- Experience with eReaders and library technologies

- Ability to speak foreign languages
