As an R&D Engineer Trainee within the FIA Technical Department, you will support the R&D group in addressing engineering challenges related to battery development. Your work will focus primarily on battery electrical and thermal modelling, simulation, and the refinement of cell testing protocols.

This internship offers an opportunity to apply your technical knowledge in a highly specialized motorsport environment, while developing practical experience in battery simulation, model validation, and vehicle performance analysis.

The position has a minimum duration of six months and reports to the Head of R&D.

### Responsibilities

#### Battery Modelling and Simulation

- Develop and deploy high-fidelity simulation models for motorsport battery applications.

- Optimise battery electrical models and ensure accurate correlation with test data.

- Develop a generic thermal model to predict battery temperature behavior under racing conditions.

- Analyse battery electrical and thermal performance to support ongoing R&D activities.

#### Model Implementation and Validation

- Implement battery models within the FIA’s lap-time simulation environment.

- Validate simulation outputs against available test data.

- Support vehicle performance optimisation through reliable and representative battery modelling.

#### Cell Testing and R&D Support

- Assist the R&D group in reviewing and refining existing cell testing protocols.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing and simulation methodologies.

- Collaborate with other team members on battery development and motorsport engineering projects.

#### Motorsport Events and Technical Activities

As part of the role, you may be required to attend selected Championship and Cup events, including tests, races, Commission meetings, Technical Working Groups, and other specific technical meetings when necessary.
