## Description

Discord plays a crucial role in the future of gaming, providing a platform for millions of users to connect, communicate, and share experiences. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining large-scale data infrastructure that powers decision-making across the platform.

You will design, develop, and deploy data ingestion, transformation, and serving systems, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and reliable. Your work will directly impact millions of gamers worldwide, enabling them to engage with each other and with the games they love.

Key responsibilities include:

- Building and maintaining data infrastructure that processes petabytes of data across millions of users

- Writing clean, well-tested code for data ingestion, transformation, and serving systems

- Owning projects end-to-end, from design through deployment and production support

- Collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver solutions that power Discord's insights

- Applying 80/20 thinking to challenge requirements, cut unnecessary complexity, and deliver optimal solutions

- Mentoring teammates through code reviews, RFCs, and shared technical knowledge

Requirements:

- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong programming skills in Python, Java, Rust, Go, or similar

- Hands-on experience building or operating data infrastructure like pipelines, streaming systems, orchestration, or data warehousing at scale

- Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-phase projects autonomously

- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including with cross-functional partners

- Growth mindset, with a willingness to learn from failures and improve

Nice to have:

- Passion for Discord and gaming

- Familiarity with data governance, privacy compliance, or cost optimization in large-scale data environments

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $245,000 + equity + benefits.
