## Description

The Government Commercial Organisation (GCO) is building a strong Commercial Function in Government, focusing on reform and developing commercial talent across departments. This role as Head of Commercial - Consumer Protection is based in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) commercial team. You will lead a team of 6 people, including 4 G7 direct reports, and work closely with policy teams and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will line manage and lead a team of G7 Commercial Leads, supporting and developing the needs of the immediate team and wider commercial colleagues. You will develop, maintain, and manage a pipeline of activity for your stakeholder customer group, managing resources to deliver priorities, and manage commercial risk to maximise opportunities for DESNZ.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading a team of G7 Commercial Leads

- Developing and managing a pipeline of commercial activity

- Managing commercial risk and maximising opportunities

- Building relationships with stakeholder teams and Deputy Directors

- Providing advice and guidance to stakeholders on delivery issues

- Managing the relationship with the Central Loans and Grants team

The role requires experience in complex commercial activities, with demonstrable experience across the commercial lifecycle. You will be assessed against technical skills, including leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking.
