About the role: The Data Service Team serves as the experts on managing data infrastructures as services for CoreWeave. The data infra includes but is not limited to managed databases, data ingestion, data flow, and data lake and analysis for CoreWeave and its customers.

As a Senior Manager, Managed Databases, you will:

- Build a world-class engineering team by hiring and developing the best talent in the industry.

- Solve very hard system-level problems to run the world's most demanding and advanced AI workloads.

- Design and implement services to deliver data to teams with a focus on providing managed solutions through APIs.

- Improve the performance, security, reliability, and scalability of our data services.

- Establish guidelines and guardrails for data access and storage for stakeholder teams.

- Ensure compliance with standards for data protection regulation.

- Analyze telemetry and system data to drive improvements in throughput, latency, and resilience.

- Work cross-functionally with platform, product, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless storage capabilities across the stack.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience managing or leading data service infra teams.

- 5+ years of hands-on software or infrastructure engineering.

- Understanding of one of the database internals: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora, CockroachDB, TiDB, MongoDB, CosmosDB, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, SAP.

- Hands-on background with cloud-native and separating compute from storage architecture.

- Expert on life of a query and life of a transaction.

- Experience operating services in production and at scale.

- Knowledge of reliability engineering concepts such as testing, progressive deployments, error budgets, observability, and fault-tolerant design.

- Understanding of CAP theorem and concurrency models.

- Familiarity with Kubernetes.
