## Description

We are seeking a Principal Consultant to lead energy advisory assignments covering electricity markets, policy and regulation, power systems, renewable energy, energy storage, demand flexibility, network planning, decarbonisation and energy transition strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, energy policy, economics, public policy, law, environmental policy, sustainability or a related discipline.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading energy advisory assignments

- Taking ownership of defined areas of study

- Conducting and overseeing policy, regulatory, market, technical and commercial research

- Analysing existing and emerging policies, regulations, market rules, tariff structures, grid codes, procurement frameworks and investment mechanisms

- Leading strategic studies, market assessments, feasibility assessments, commercial analysis, regulatory impact assessments, implementation roadmaps, business cases and option appraisals

- Contributing to the design, review and implementation of energy policy frameworks, regulatory models, market-enabling mechanisms, commercial models and governance structures

- Undertaking international benchmarking of energy policies, regulatory frameworks and market design approaches

- Preparing and reviewing high-quality client deliverables

- Leading collaboration with technical specialists, economists, modellers, commercial advisors and project managers

- Supporting work winning through proposal writing, scope development, methodology design, fee build-up inputs, credentials, client presentations, thought leadership and identification of emerging opportunities

- Contributing to quality assurance by reviewing analysis, assumptions, sources, calculations, commercial logic and outputs for accuracy, consistency and client relevance

- Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and technical direction to junior consultants and analysts

- Energy market assessment and opportunity analysis reports

- Power sector strategy, transition roadmap and decarbonisation advisory reports

- Policy and regulatory review reports

- Regulatory gap assessment and international benchmarking studies

- Renewable energy, storage, flexibility and distributed energy resource advisory studies

- Commercial analysis, revenue model assessments and investment decision-support materials

- Grid connection, network planning and large energy user advisory inputs

- Energy transition policy frameworks and implementation roadmaps

- Stakeholder consultation materials and consultation response drafts

- Business case inputs, cost-benefit assessments and option appraisal summaries

- Client presentations, briefing packs, executive summaries and board-level notes

- Proposal sections, technical methodologies, commercial inputs, credentials, market intelligence notes and thought leadership content
