## Description

Benevity is seeking a talented Senior Staff Data Platform Engineer, who has an extensive record of hands-on data engineering and data product development experience.

The Senior Staff Data Platform Engineer will be the technical anchor for our data platform, and will lead the design of our data democratization strategy. You will bridge the gap between architectural vision and production-grade engineering, working hands-on alongside the team.

**Responsibilities:**

- Hands-on technical leadership across the full data path

- Design and build platform capabilities for domain engineering teams to take data from source to reporting

- Work hands-on across streaming and batch pipelines, transformation models, lakehouse and catalog layer, and semantic layer

- Lead design and delivery of medallion architecture on AWS lakehouse

- Make pipelines configuration and metadata driven

- Ensure every pipeline, dataset and data product is registered, documented and discoverable in metadata platform

- Design data product and semantic layer contracts

- Make AI a natural extension of engineering practice

- Work with Principal Architects to lead technical direction

- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders

- Ensure security best practices

- Create and maintain technical documentation

- Provide mentorship and guidance to other developers

**Requirements:**

- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

- 8+ years of scalable development experience

- 2+ years in technical leadership role

- Excellent communication skills

- Solid software design fundamentals

- Experience with domain driven design, loosely coupled systems, event-driven services

- Deep, hands-on data engineering experience

- Experience with stream processing platforms, lakehouse and medallion architecture

- Warehouse engines at scale and declarative orchestration

- Experience making data discoverable, governed and trustworthy

- Metadata, catalog and lineage platforms

- Data contracts and schema governance

- Data quality, observability and service levels

- Experience with data products and semantic layer

- Designing and modelling semantic layer

- Defining data products with identified consumers

- Cloud, delivery and AI-led engineering practice

- Extensive experience with cloud-native infrastructure in AWS

- Proficiency in agile, Infrastructure-as-Code, DevSecOps and automated testing
