## Description

We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect to set direction and design solutions for our most complex IT systems and platforms. You will use industry-leading approaches to respond to challenging functional and non-functional requirements.

**Accountabilities**

- Set the strategic architecture direction for a specialist technology area, such as developing trading platforms.

- Provide deep technical expertise in designing and evaluating complex technology architectures for stakeholders.

- Manage innovative design, engineering initiatives, and complex technology projects with technical experts across the bank.

- Develop and promote architectural standards, guidelines, and governance policies to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance.

- Identify emerging technology trends and implement potential solutions that align with the bank's strategic objectives.

- Develop and maintain advisor relationships with business partners, architects, and engineering teams.

- Advocate for optimal solutions that address the bank's technological needs.

- Support engineering and architecture community initiatives to mentor team members and share knowledge.

- Manage a business function and contribute to strategic initiatives.

- Lead a large team or sub-function and embed a performance culture.

- Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees.

- Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.

- Escalate breaches of policies and procedures.

- Foster compliance and ensure regulations are observed.

- Focus on the external environment and regulators.

- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the function's integration with the business division.

- Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices.

- Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems.

- Exercise management authority and make significant decisions.

- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level.

**Essential Skills and Experience**

- Significant experience operating as a senior Solution Architect or equivalent.

- Experience designing enterprise-scale integration fabrics.

- Experience defining architecture patterns for APIs, event streaming, and messaging.

- Experience establishing channel decoupling strategies.

- Deep understanding of orchestration versus choreography patterns.

- Experience translating strategic architecture direction into practical solutions.

- Passion for designing solutions that deliver simplification, reuse, consistency, scalability, security, and performance.

- Robust stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Experience operating within large, complex, and regulated financial services environments.

**Team and Business Structure**

- The successful candidate will be a senior member of the PBWM Architecture team.

- There will be some architecture team responsibilities, supporting the PBWM Architecture function.

- This role will have some accountabilities and responsibilities to support operational processes outside of the Architecture team.

- This role will be a senior attendee and key decision maker of the PBWM Architecture Review Board.
