As a General Merchandise Expert, you will be an expert in operations, process, and efficiency, enabling a consistent experience for our guests. Your team will prioritize guest experience while ensuring product is available and easy to shop – including replenishment, pricing and signing, setting, and maintaining the sales floor and the backroom. The role of a General Merchandise Expert can provide you with the skills and experience of: - Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store - Experience in retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement - Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals A typical day as a General Merchandise Expert will include the following responsibilities: - Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments: - Greet guests, smile, make eye contact, or wave - Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience - End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you - Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude - Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience - Execute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities - If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures - Learn and execute operational procedures, such as setting and organising merchandise, managing product accuracy and stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas - Follow all Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role-specific guidelines, and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards - Support guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfilment processes - All other duties based on business needs This may be the right job for you if: - You enjoy interacting and helping others - including guests that shop our store and fellow team members you work with - You thrive in a fast-moving, highly active and physically demanding role, where teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem solving are key to success - You are open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times) The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a General Merchandise Expert.
