## The Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, Investors at Carta, you will be responsible for the long-term technical health and success of the Investors business unit. You will navigate ambiguity, champion systemic improvement, bridge technical gaps, define the AI frontier, and uphold engineering standards.

The Investors business unit at Carta is building a system of record for private markets. You will join small, senior teams that blend startup-style speed with the rigor of software that moves real money.

## The Problems You'll Solve

As a Staff Engineer, you will:

- Navigate Ambiguity: Tackle complex and poorly defined problems at Carta.

- Champion Systemic Improvement: Identify and eliminate failure patterns across multiple systems.

- Bridge Technical Gaps: Align multiple teams on major technical decisions.

- Define the AI Frontier: Lead the charge in transforming how Carta builds.

- Uphold Engineering Standards: Set the vision for operational excellence and mentor senior engineers.

## Requirements

- Expert in building distributed systems.

- Comfortable guiding technical direction across JVM languages, gRPC, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS).

- Leadership skills: Lead through influence rather than authority.

- Vision: Anticipate future roadblocks and build systems that support long-term business growth.

- Experience: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of high-level technical leadership.

## Salary Range

The minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

- $205,600 CAD - $257,000 CAD in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
