## Description

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer for Identity Services at Barclays, where you will contribute to building and maintaining our next-generation identity platform that powers secure authentication and authorization across our digital banking ecosystem.

**Purpose of the role** As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

**Accountabilities**

- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.

- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

- Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.

- Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contributing to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

**Requirements**

- 3+ years of software development experience with strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Go.

- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.

- Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts, including authentication, authorization, single sign-on, and identity federation.

- Good understanding of cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker).

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build automation tools (GitLab CI), and version control systems (Git).

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following software engineering best practices.

**Nice to Have**

- Experience working with Ping Identity or similar IAM platforms and their APIs.

- Experience working with Open Policy Agent (OPA) or similar policy engines and their APIs.

- Experience working with databases and developing extract-transform-load (ETL) solutions.

- Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML) and security best practices for web applications.

- Experience with test-driven development (TDD), automated testing frameworks, and code quality tools.

- Background in Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in cross-functional teams.

- Exposure to financial services or regulated industries with understanding of compliance and security requirements.
