## Description

The Licensing Engineer supports the development and execution of licensing activities for Standard Nuclear's fuel fabrication and transportation programs.

**FUNCTION**

This is a technically focused role within the licensing organization, intended for an engineer who can contribute immediately to project deliverables while developing deeper expertise in nuclear licensing.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

### Technical Documentation & Analysis

- Author and review technical documents including design criteria, functional requirements, purchase specifications, operating procedures, materials evaluation reports, code reconciliations, and similar technical work scopes

- Develop and support Safety Analysis Reports (SARs) and associated technical sections

- Ensure technical accuracy, clarity, and regulatory alignment of all documentation

### Licensing & Regulatory Support

- Support licensing activities related to NRC regulations, including 10 CFR Part 71 (Packaging and Transportation of Radioactive Material) and 10 CFR Part 70 (Domestic Licensing of Special Nuclear Material) as applicable

- Review engineering, design, and fabrication drawings for licensing compliance

- Assist in preparation of regulatory submittals and responses to regulatory inquiries

- As required assist in hazard identification, accident sequence evaluation, and identification of Items Relied on for Safety (IROFS)

- Perform regulatory gap analysis and regulatory comparison evaluations

- Support development of licensing strategies and documentation packages

### Engineering Integration

- Work closely with engineering teams to understand system designs, materials, and processes

- Ensure licensing requirements are incorporated into design, fabrication, and testing activities

- Support evaluation of design changes for licensing impact

### Project & Cross-Functional Support

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, quality, operations, and project management

- Support project execution by contributing to work scopes, schedules, and technical deliverables

- Assist in tracking and coordinating licensing deliverables across projects

### Professional Development

- Develop subject matter expertise in nuclear licensing, regulatory frameworks, and safety analysis

- Build familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code

- Contribute to continuous improvement of licensing processes and documentation quality

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field

- 3–5 years of experience in a technical engineering role within a regulated or industrial environment

- Strong technical writing skills with experience developing engineering documentation

- Familiarity with NRC regulations (Part 71 preferred; Part 70 a plus)

- Equivalent licensing experience under Department of Energy (DOE) regulations will also be considered (i.e. DOE-STD-3009, Preparation of Nonreactor Nuclear Facility Documented Safety Analysis)

- Experience with fabrication, materials testing, or mechanical systems is a plus
