## Description

## About the role

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. You will be a Security Data Engineer, responsible for securing Anthropic's data center footprint, including sites, hardware, and personnel.

You will own the component-level hardware inventory and chain of custody, fed by software running at sites and on hosts, and continuous control monitoring. Your goal is to achieve security that runs itself, verifying custody, access, and evidence continuously.

You will work with the DCSE team, Anthropic's compute and data center operations teams, and external partners. The role is based in San Francisco, with remote work options and regular travel to data center sites.

## Key responsibilities

- Hardware inventory and chain of custody: own the component-level record of hardware, including data model, pipelines, and tamper-evident stores

- Tools, automation, and AI agents: build tools and agents for reconciliation, audit evidence exports, and custody checks

- Custody workflows and field software: build workflows and software for capturing custody events and enforcing authorization

- Continuous control monitoring and posture: own pipelines for turning check outcomes into per-control and per-site measures

- Data quality: build coverage checks, reconciliation, and alerts for data quality issues

- Integration and reporting: agree schemas and interfaces with engineers and build query surfaces and reports

## Minimum qualifications

- Designed and run production data systems with relational schemas, change data capture, and batch or streaming pipelines

- Integrated with systems outside of your control and built data models that outlive any one source

- Shipped software that runs outside a central service and kept it correct in the field

- Worked hands-on with data about physical assets or security controls

- Read and reviewed other people's code and built with AI coding agents using Git and code review

- Owned a domain end-to-end, setting approach, designing, building, and running it with teams and vendors

- Wrote SQL and at least one general-purpose programming language well

## Preferred qualifications

- Experience with asset management, supply chain, or warehouse systems

- Experience building continuous control monitoring or metrics for security or compliance programs

- Experience with risk or posture scoring that combines control results and evidence

- Familiarity with data center hardware and its lifecycle

- Ran software on many hosts or at remote sites with versioned rollout

- Built AI agents or automation that replaced recurring manual work

The annual compensation range for this role is $320,000-$405,000 USD.
