The App Infrastructure team is the backbone of Affirm's shared mobile app infrastructure, owning the app's shared components, including design system, networking, observability, experimentation, CI/CD, app releases, developer tooling, availability/stability, and more.

As a Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (App Infrastructure), you will:

- Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long timescale and help tie it together with critical, business-impacting projects.

- Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are well understood and managed.

- Act as a force-multiplier for your team through definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes.

- Take ownership of your team's operations and availability by ensuring the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place.

- Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting code review and design standards and advocating for them beyond your team.

- Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.

We look for:

- 7+ years of experience developing and architecting mobile applications, with 4+ years using React Native.

- Proficiency in working with JavaScript/TypeScript.

- Hands-on experience with React Native and Expo, and authoring or migrating native modules and components.

- Experience with complex state management in a React app, with proficiency in Redux Toolkit a bonus.

- Experience with mobile testing and observability tooling, such as E2E frameworks like Maestro/Appium, crash reporting Sentry/Crashlytics, and experimentation/feature-flagging platforms like Statsig/LaunchDarkly.

- Proficiency in AI-assisted development, such as Claude Code or comparable agentic tooling.

- Proven track record of driving a team to execute large projects and delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with the global engineering team.
