## Description

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Cloud organization, which is driving Workday's next major wave of innovation. You'll lead a team to architect and build features in our distributed ingestion, query processing, transaction processing, and storage engines. As an engineer passionate about data management and distributed data processing frameworks, you'll focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Lead a top-notch team to build and enhance Workday's Data Cloud

- Architect and build features in distributed ingestion, query processing, transaction processing, and storage engines

- Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of data processing algorithms

- Develop and implement novel solutions in data management and distributed data processing systems

**Requirements:**

- 10+ years of experience with Java, Scala, C++, Go, or Rust

- 5+ years of development experience in relevant domain areas (database internals, distributed system application, JVM performance tuning, Cloud/SaaS Services, etc.)

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field or MS in Computer Science or a relevant field

**Nice to Have:**

- Background in data warehousing, database system internals, and/or distributed systems

- Expertise in distributed data processing engines or data management systems

- Strong understanding of SQL

- Experience with Cloud Computing Services (GCP, AWS), Kubernetes, and/or Linux

- Familiarity with Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Apache Polaris, Trino, MySql, PostgreSQL, DuckDB
