## Description

Reuters Breakingviews is looking for a talented, imaginative and hard-working columnist to join our team in EMEA.

The successful candidate will research and write punchy and original views on deals, companies and financial markets that set the agenda for our global audience.

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and maintaining contacts with senior executives, financiers, and policymakers

- Combining quick, authoritative takes on breaking news with original and deeply researched columns on the biggest topics

- Projecting ideas through eye-catching graphics, podcasts, videos, and participating in live events

- Collaborating with the global Breakingviews team to explore topical ideas and illuminate cross-border themes

The ideal candidate will have:

- A firm understanding of how companies and financial markets work, and a grasp of the basic concepts of corporate finance

- A proven ability to formulate strong, well-argued opinions under tight deadlines

- Proficiency at sourcing, organising and analysing data to support arguments

- The highest standards of accuracy, editorial integrity, and professionalism

Preferred qualifications include:

- A base of high-level contacts among corporate executives, bankers, investors and policymakers

- A proven track record of writing analysis or opinion for sophisticated audiences

- Experience of using data visualisation tools to support arguments

- A working knowledge of Excel and financial data providers
