## Description

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI.

We are hiring a 6-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher within the Lansing School District. Students who qualify to enroll in ELD programming may have limited formal schooling, migrant lifestyles, and low literacy levels in their native language, making it difficult to transition into a secondary school setting.

The teacher will work to establish a safe and nurturing learning environment for students where background knowledge, language and culture is valued and time is given to orient students and families to culture, school, and community. Teachers will work alongside other staff, parents, and volunteers to ensure they are providing the best education experience to all students.

Responsibilities include:

- Providing focused literacy instruction in English and sheltered exposure to academic content

- Establishing a safe and nurturing learning environment for students

- Working alongside other staff, parents, and volunteers to ensure the best education experience for all students
