## Description

We are seeking a Senior Regional Climate Associate to support the Regional Thematic Unit on Climate Action in IOM's Regional Office for East, Horn, and Southern Africa.

The successful candidate will provide thematic expertise and resource mobilization support to Country Offices, monitor and analyze regional thematic trends, support regional thematic project development, and review and support project proposal endorsement processes related to Climate Action.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the Regional Thematic Specialist - Climate Action in capacity building, training, monitoring, and evaluation, and technical support to Country Offices

- Reviewing, endorsing, and tracking project proposals developed by Country Offices

- Identifying emerging issues relevant to the thematic area and contributing to the development of thematic policy and reports

- Serving as a resource person for Country Offices by providing insights into the latest policy and research developments

- Supporting the development of regional/multi-country projects

- Drafting and developing regional thematic guidance notes, information sheets, and tools

- Preparing internal reports, presentations, and briefings

- Contributing to ongoing knowledge management processes

- Ensuring the continued functioning of the RO Climate Action Unit in the absence of the Regional Thematic Specialist

- Participating in conferences, workshops, and meetings related to the thematic area of expertise

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Business Administration, Environmental and Climate Studies, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law, or related field with four years of relevant professional experience

- Experience in the field of migration and climate change issues, including operational experience with project management and thematic experience

- Demonstrated expertise in migration and climate action relevant to project development

- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions, private sector, academic institutions, think tanks, financial institutions, and NGOs

- Strong writing and analytical skills

- Ability to take responsibility for action and manage constructive criticism

- Promotion of continuous learning for self and others

- Clear communication and adaptability

- Planning and goal-setting within area of responsibility

- Mastery of subject matter

We offer a fixed-term contract of 1 year with the possibility of extension, and a competitive salary package.
