## Compensation

The expected base pay range for this role is $158K – $225K, with additional compensation including equity and bonus.

## How you'll make impact

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Growth Engineering team at Airwallex, you'll design, build, and own backend services and platform capabilities that power growth at scale. You'll work on technically challenging problems at the intersection of distributed systems, AI, and data infrastructure, driving measurable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

- Building scalable backend systems, including high-performance APIs, distributed services, event-driven architectures, and real-time data processing capabilities.

- Developing AI-native capabilities that transform customer signals into personalized experiences and automated workflows.

- Owning end-to-end technical delivery, independently designing, implementing, deploying, and operating complex backend services.

- Designing for reliability and scale, building secure, observable, highly available services.

- Solving ambiguous business problems, partnering with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.

- Elevating engineering quality through thoughtful system design, code reviews, and mentoring.

## What we're looking for

### Essentials

- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial experience building and operating production backend systems.

- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, or a comparable backend language.

- Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend architecture.

- Proven ability to independently design and deliver complex backend solutions.

- Strong ownership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

### Preferred

- Experience building growth platforms, experimentation systems, or data-intensive applications.

- Experience building AI-powered applications or agentic workflows.

- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and orchestration technologies.

- Experience with production observability and reliability tooling.
