## Description

Samsara is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join their team. As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and run with them. You will define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to the customer-facing UI. You will design and ship full-stack features end to end, working across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile to deliver AI-powered products that solve real operational problems.

Responsibilities:

- Take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and run with them

- Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities

- Design and ship full-stack features end to end

- Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous, real-world problems into clear technical plans and measurable outcomes

- Build and scale the systems behind AI-driven products

- Raise the bar for the engineers around you through code reviews, design reviews, technical mentorship, and by setting a standard for quality, velocity, and craft

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

- 8+ years of experience in software design and development

- Strong full-stack fundamentals

- Proficiency in modern languages and frameworks (Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar)

- Demonstrated experience leading cross-team or cross-org projects

- Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products

- Strong communication skills

Nice to have:

- Experience shipping AI-powered features in production

- Comfort with modern AI-augmented development workflows

- Background working with real-world operational data

- A proven track record of mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture
