## Description

Grab is Southeast Asia's leading superapp, providing various services such as food delivery, financial management, and transportation.

You will join the Business Platform team, which builds products and platforms to help merchants and businesses onboard, operate, grow, and serve consumers at scale across Southeast Asia.

As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will report to a Senior Software Engineering Manager and build backend systems that support merchant and e-commerce experiences in the Grab ecosystem.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform:

- Design, build, and maintain critical backend services, APIs, and asynchronous workflows that power merchant onboarding, seller operations, and e-commerce experiences.

- Independently own delivery from technical design to rollout, including implementation planning, testing strategy, monitoring, and rollback readiness.

- Improve the correctness, reliability, and observability of systems that manage merchant profile data, store configuration, catalog-related workflows, and business rules.

- Investigate production issues, identify root-causes, and implement durable fixes across service boundaries, operational processes, and data flows.

- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to translate business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions and measurable outcomes.

- Raise engineering quality through code reviews, design discussions, refactoring, and improvements to testing, monitoring, and team development practices.

- Use AI tools and latest technologies to improve engineering productivity, accelerate analysis, prototype ideas, and contribute better solutions for implementation and operational workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend systems in production environments.

- Solid proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Go, Java, or Kotlin, and experience delivering maintainable, well-tested production code.

- Hands-on experience designing APIs, data models, service integrations, and asynchronous workflows in distributed systems.

- Practical experience with databases, caching, messaging systems, observability tooling, and cloud-based infrastructure used in large-scale applications.

- Experience managing production operations, including debugging live issues, improving monitoring and alerts, and making sound trade-offs across reliability, delivery speed, and maintainability.

- Experience engaging with AI tools and latest technologies to enhance productivity, improve workflows, and contribute new ideas.

- Domain experience in e-commerce, marketplace, merchant, seller, catalog, or business platform products.
