## Description

Leidos' Defense Sector Manufacturing Segment is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to join its team at its MidCity facility located in Huntsville, AL.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for delivering, maintaining, and improving ground support equipment, tooling, and assembly fixtures.

Key responsibilities include:

- Designing and creating drawings for production tooling and supporting equipment

- Revising current designs or creating new designs to facilitate process improvements

- Interfacing with the operations team to understand roadblocks impeding production flow

- Creating bills of materials and working with procurement to order hardware for ground support equipment and/or tooling needed for the production build process

- Disposing of non-conformances of ground support equipment and/or tooling

- Collaborating with manufacturing engineering to ensure work instructions accurately depict processes for utilizing ground support equipment and/or tooling

- Playing a key role in tooling engineering efforts to help map the production process flow and optimize manufacturing tooling needs

- Identifying and executing on continuous improvement projects

- Monitoring the status of tooling jobs to ensure they meet schedule requirements and reporting job status to management

The ideal candidate will have:

- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with 4-8 years of applicable experience or a Master's Degree with 2-6 years prior relevant experience in an engineering field

- Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks

- Ability to work tasks with limited direction and provide clarification and instruction to others

- Experience implementing GD&T methods and tolerance stack-ups on parts and assemblies

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Eagerness to learn and grow within the organization

- Proficiency in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The salary range for this position is $87,100.00 - $157,450.00.
