The purpose of a Medical Scribe at Oak Street Health is to support primary care providers with clinical documentation so that they can focus on providing exceptional care to patients.

Responsibilities:

- Documenting patient encounters, including observing patient visits, documenting patient encounters in a structured note, assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes, preparing After Visit Summaries, and consulting with providers to ensure accurate and specific documentation.

- Clinical documentation improvement, including requesting and reviewing medical records, leveraging population health tools, and consulting with providers on clinical documentation opportunities.

- Administrative support for providers and care teams, including placing orders and referrals, addressing tasks, and supporting care teams with additional responsibilities related to clinical documentation.

Requirements:

- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications.

- Prior clinical experience, including shadowing and/or volunteering.

- Advanced listening and communication skills.

- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows.

- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities served.

- Ability to adapt to new workflows, type 70+ words per minute, and work approximately 40-45 hours per week.
